Ordinary to Extraordinary
Announcing our book to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday.
As of November 2016, the ‘Real-Life Stories’ book now has a name: Ordinary to Extraordinary: 150 Stories as unique as the women who lived them. These are the top 150 stories that Members submitted – 350 in all.
The length of the book will be about 300 pages, with some photos. The book launch will be on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, the first night of the Provincial Conference. There will also be an e-book available after the launch.
The stories range from a single incident to a full life story; from ordinary life to tragic events; from the horrific to the humorous. There are stories of living as a child in another country, immigration to Canada, growing up in Ontario, meeting the love of their life, and the struggles of life – fires, floods, and tornadoes. And, of course, there are stories recounting the role of the WI in our lives; our pride of accomplishments and support for our communities.
Special Introductory Offer – The regular price for the printed book will be $25. But there is a special introductory offer of $20 until the book launch.
We want to sell as many books as possible in advance. This will help cover the printing costs without dipping into WI funds. It will also help determine the number of books to print in the first run. We are therefore hoping for many orders before March 31, 2017.
Every Branch will receive an order form in the mailout with the Provincial and ACWW Canada Area Conferences by the end of December 2016. If you are not a member of an Ontario Branch but would like a book, please print off the BOOK ORDER FORM and mail to the FWIO Office.
