FWIO Welcomes New Provincial Officers
The 2012 Annual General Meeting of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Ontario was held at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre in Barrie on January 5, 2012. WI Members gathered from all across the province to re-connect and share news of the past year.
This year we welcomed many new faces to the Provincial Board. Congratulations and welcome to our new Board Directors! Barbara Weese joins the Board as Western Regional Board Director, covering Central and Guelph Areas; Eleanor Williams as Southern Regional Board Director, covering London and Southwestern Areas; and Joyce Cockle was appointed as Northern Regional Board Director, covering the Northwestern Area.
Congratulations to our new President-Elect, Evelyn Peck, who comes to us from Prince Edward County, and to Elsie Stephenson of the Sudbury area who was appointed as FWIO President for 2012. Evelyn is a former Board Director and Elsie is a Past President of FWIO (2003-2005). Both ladies bring lots of wisdom, experience and enthusiasm to the Board.
Thank you to all of our outgoing Board Members: President Carol Innes, Northern Board Director Gerd Hamilton, Western Board Director Ruth Jones, and Southern Board Director Marlene Archer. Your contributions and dedication to FWIO will always be remembered and appreciated.
Congratulations to Joy Trimble who was elected as FWIO Executive Officer to FWIC (term to begin in June 2012), and to Christine Reaburn who was elected as FWIO’s nominee for the President-Elect position of the Federated Women’s Institutes of Canada (FWIC). Best of luck to Christine at the FWIC Convention in June.

Welcome to all of our incoming Area Voting Delegates: Martha Gammage (Southwestern Area), Jean Wilson (Northwestern Area), and Margaret Munro and her alternate, Mary Inglis (Eastern Area). Complete contact lists for all Provincial Officers can be found in the Members Section.
Thank you to everyone who presented at the AGM, including Membership Coordinator, Debbie Bauer and Advocacy Coordinator, Glenna Smith who held very informative and entertaining workshops on the Friday.
Next year’s AGM will be held at Kempenfelt on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 – mark it on your calendars! We hope to see you there!
