ROSE Session Success!

Grand Bend WI Forms a Book Club!

Pictured above are (L-R) Barb Kilback,

Carolyn Lavers, and Mireille Bumstead

Grand Bend WI (London Area) recently hosted a ROSE

Session which focused on their newly formed book club!

The first book on their list was "The Book of Awesome"

by Neil Pasricha.  During their discussion, it was noted

that this is a lighthearted book that everyone can

relate to.  The book is written in blog style and shows

that many little things in life can bring us happiness.

It was a very positive and uplifting read!  The next book

on Grand Bend WI's list is "Water for Elephants" by Sara

Gruen.  Happy reading!

Elgin County District WI Raises Awareness

Pictured above are (L-R) Sherry Ball, Joanne Erickson,

Tracy Grant, and Ethel de la Penotiere

WI Members in Elgin County District (London Area) truly

listen to the needs of their community.  A local resident,

who was caring for her granddaughter afflicted with

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), approached the

Elgin County District ROSE Coordinator in hopes that

WI might be the answer to help bring awareness of FASD

to the public.

After several months of planning, Elgin County District WI

hosted a ROSE Session - an FASD Awareness Day - in

St. Thomas, Ontario.  With representatives from 23 health

and support agencies on hand, 80 attendees learned

about the dangers of drinking during pregnancy, as well as

how to recognize and understand the behaviours of

someone afflicted with FASD and where to get help.

As a result of the donations made at this ROSE Session,

Elgin County District WI was able to donate $200 to the

Talbot Teen Centre.  Thank you Elgin County District WI

for the many volunteer hours you dedicated and

congratulations on an outstanding ROSE Session!

Beamsville WI Gets Crafty!

Pictured above are the Craft Day participants showing

                            off their finished cards!

The Members of Beamsville WI (Hamilton Area) celebrated

WI week by inviting the community to join them for their

Annual Craft Day!  The ladies welcomed Ingrid Younger from

"Stamp Up" who demonstrated how to create a thank you

card and a birthday card.  The end results were beautiful!

Congratulations Beamsville WI on a terrific ROSE Session!

Russell Village WI's Energy Flows

ROSE Session attendees listen closely as Tony Gyenis shares

                          information about Feng Shui

A certified Feng Shui consultant and teacher, Tony Gyenis,

was invited by Russell Village WI (Eastern Area) to introduce

the how-to and the benefits of applying Feng Shui philosophy

at a recent ROSE Session.  Mr. Gyenis gives consultations to

individuals on their homes, businesses, and in landscaping the

garden to promote a peaceful atmosphere.

Mr. Gyenis is also a Certified Vibrational Therapist, and gave

a brief introduction to this lesser-known therapy.  Vibrational

(sound) Therapy is a "Feng Shui" of the body and, in skilled

hands, can identify and eliminate many "blockages" to

physiological well-being.

It was a wonderfully entertaining and well-attended evening.

As WI Member, Carole McIlhagga says, "Meetings such as these,

we find, make us better conversationalists and expose us to new

and interesting concepts.  Always be willing to grow and increase

your knowledge.  ROSE Sessions are the best!  Have fun with them!"

Congratulations Russell Village WI on a job well done!
