The
lawns and gardens surrounding the Erland
Lee Museum Home are beautiful during the
summer months, while retaining their rustic
charm. The grounds include several rose
beds, a number of flowering bushes, many
older maple, walnut and pine trees, an herb
garden, a creek bed (usually dry) and a
wooden pedestrian bridge. As well, the grounds
include several benches and picnic tables,
a heritage plow and a traditional maple
syrup boiling pot. Farm fields surround
the Museum, providing a delightful background
planted with either grape vines or corn.
Inside
the Museum, the 1870s Victorian parlour
can be used for a limited number of people.
The ground floor of the carriage house,
with a backdrop of traditional farm implements,
is also available. Many parties prefer taking
a photo on the front porch of the 1873 home
or staging a picture on the small rise on
the back lawn.
Looking
for a winter wonderland? The Museum is now
open during the winter and retains its rugged
landscape and beauty under a layer of snow.
In fact, the lawn is usually pristine and
unmarked; perfect for a quick winter photo
shoot!
- The Museum will reserve exclusive use
of the lawns or buildings for your wedding
party.
- Washroom facilities, additional space
for changing (if requested) and tables,
chairs or benches can also be made available.
- In addition, special arrangements can
be made in advance to use some of the
historical furniture as props for your
photo session. Photographers must make
arrangements in advance with the Museum
staff.
- A $25 fee is required to book the use
of the lawns or buildings. A $20 non-refundable
deposit is required to hold the booking.
- If the booking takes place outside of
regular business hours, an additional
cost of $15 is required to have a staff
member open the facilities.
How
about an elegant wedding photo in the 1890s
parlour?
